Today is Children’s Day in Japan.
Children’s Day is not only in Japan,
China, Korea, Turkey, Mexico, Brazil, India, Thailand, etc,
there is a custom to celebrate the day.

Oh.
I came from the Edo period (1603-1867), when May 5th was an important day for the Edo shogunate.
Daimyo (feudal lords) and Hatamoto (shoguns) would visit the Shogun at Edo Castle to celebrate.
The celebration gradually spread to the common people, and stores selling samurai dolls and streamers began to open.
I see!
Once again, we would like to explain Children’s Day.
Children’s Day is one of the national holidays in Japan,
and is celebrated on May 5, the Boys’ Festival.
The purpose of Children’s Day is to “respect children’s character,
promote their happiness, and give thanks to their mothers”.
I didn’t know.
Thank you, Mother…
Where is the father~? Awww….

Exactly!
For me
Children’s Day = “a day to eat Oak Rice Cake or Chimaki“. ( lol )
They are Japanese confectioneries.
Oak Rice Cake also has a meaning.
The leaf used in Oak Rice Cake is a leaf of the oak tree,
which means “the old leaf does not fall off until a new sprout appears”.
“Parents do not die until their children are born.”
→ The heirs to the family will not cease to exist.
→ It seems to have become a symbol of “prosperity of offspring“.
And
There are other symbols besides food,
I wonder if some families take iris baths on Children’s Day.
Iris leaves have a strong fragrance and are said to ward off illness and bad things.
Taking a bath with iris in it is said to drive away evil spirits and bring good health.
That’s good!!!

Interesting to know what that means.
Yes!
Today, May 5th, is Children’s Day.
I hope everyone has a wonderful Children’s Day!
