 What is this!?

 Its fangs are bare!

 I’m afraid~!

This is a dinosaur called Tyrannosaurus.

It is said that the existence of dinosaurs was not known in Japan until the Meiji period (1868-1912), when Western civilization was introduced to Japan.

Therefore, it is quite natural that Sarudono and Usahime, who have been here since the Edo period, do not know about dinosaurs!

 I see.

 What are dinosaurs?

Yes.

Dinosaurs are a group of reptiles that existed on the earth from about 250 million to 65 million years ago.

They are mainly classified into bipedal (theropods) and quadrupedal (ornithopods).

 How big were they ?

The smallest dinosaurs were about 70 cm (microraptor), and the largest were about 33 m (supersaurus).

It is thought that the small dinosaurs became airborne and evolved into birds.

Why are there no dinosaurs today?

It is thought that dinosaurs may have become extinct around 65.5 million years ago when a huge meteorite, 10-12 km in diameter, fell on the Yucatan Peninsula in present-day Mexico.

10~12 km in diameter?

That must have been very destructive.

That’s true.

The energy of the meteorite is said to be one billion times that of the Hiroshima bomb, and it created a crater 170 km in diameter where it fell.

Almost all life within a 1,000 km radius of the meteorite’s impact point is said to have been destroyed.

Immediately after the meteorite fall, a magnitude 10 earthquake, tsunami, and dust covered the atmosphere, causing major environmental changes.

(A 2014 study found that acid rain triggered by the meteorite fall was the likely cause of the extinction of the dinosaurs.)

Did any of these creatures survive?

Yes.

It is believed that the frog survived the situation.

 What?

Is it possible to buy one?

 That’s quite interesting

Yes.

However, before purchasing, you need to carefully consider whether or not you can responsibly keep the creature until it reaches the end of its life.
