Good morning, Sarudono.
It is a little chilly this morning.
Today, May 1, 2024
A new spot will open directly across from Dragonfly Pond Park in Kishiwada, Osaka.
(SARUDONO)
What kind of place is it?
WHATAWON Kishiwada is located in Kishiwada and covers an area of 29,000 square meters!
That’s about 60% of the size of the Tokyo Dome!
(SARUDONO)
It’s a big place.
What can we do there?
Kyomachi-Yuya SOKOTOTO is equipped with a ceramic plate bath and sauna.
Sauna boom is unprecedented right now.
The second floor is a terrace where you can feel the wind outside.
(SARUDONO)
That must feel good!
Yes.
We also have a large merchandising area, WBOX, which carries many apparel brands and outdoor goods.
You can enjoy shopping at your leisure!
(SARUDONO)
No dining options?
We have a food hall, GOURMAN’S.
We have a lineup of restaurants that have turned down offers from other malls, so I’m sure you’ll be satisfied with the selection.
(SARUDONO)
That’s interesting!
What kind of food do you think we’re going to get?
Yes, we have hamburgers, takoyaki, pizza, crepes, and eel!
It is completely cashless, and orders are placed via QR code on the restaurant’s QR code using a smart phone.
It’s a great era, isn’t it?
(SARUDONO)
Eel?
I’m getting hungry!
I see you like eels, Sarudono.
In Japan, there is a custom to eat eel on the day of the Ox in Doyo!
(SARUDONO)
Mm. I have been coming here since the Edo period.
I came from the Edo period (1603-1867), and the custom of eating eels on the day of the Ox was spread by Hiraga Gennai, who lived in my time.
What is the meaning of that?
(SARUDONO)
Eels are very rich and fatty, aren’t they?
Therefore, it did not sell well in summer.
So, eel shops were troubled and consulted with Gennai Hiraga.
Hiraga Gennai told them to put a poster in front of their stores saying, “Today is the day of the Ox.
It was to encourage people to eat something with an “U” on the day of the Ox.
So the eels sold like hotcakes!
Hiraga Gennai was quite a strategist!
(SARUDONO)
That’s true.
This story spread.
The custom of eating eels on Doyou no Ushi came about.
That’s right!
I learned a lot!
Now, back to WHATAWON Kishiwada.
WHATAWON (Watawan) Kishiwada is also home to the Hokkaido Marche de HOKKAIDO, which sells fresh seafood!
The restaurant has an eat-in area, so customers can grill and eat their purchases on the spot!
There are also accommodations in trailer houses, so you can spend your time leisurely without worrying about the time.
Pets are allowed in most areas of the facility.
For pet owners, going out with their pets is a wish come true.
(SARUDONO)
That’s right.
One last thing to note!
The entire mall is cashless.
Cash is not accepted in the entire mall!
At last, a day like this…
We’re ahead of the times, aren’t we?
(SARUDONO)
I can’t believe it!
Please be careful when you go out!
