Dear Sarudono and Usahime,

I would like to go out with all of you tonight.

Are you free?

What? Tonight?

I don’t have any special plans.

What is it?

Yes, fireflies can be seen along the Minoh River and waterfall paths flowing from the famous Minoh Great Falls in Minoh, Osaka.

Oh my!

 Fireflies!?

Yes, I have heard that genji fireflies glow every year at night from mid to late June!

They usually appear around 9:00 p.m., so I thought I would come to Minoh around that time.

Fireflies are so elegant.

We have been coming here since the Edo period (1603-1867), but firefly hunting was popular even then.

There are many ukiyoe paintings depicting fireflies.

“Ho, ho, ho, ho, ho, come here, come here.”

This is also a children’s song from the Edo period.

I didn’t know that!

Are we going to Minoh by car?

No, the waterfall road is not accessible by car, so we plan to take the train and walk!

It’s just what my father needs to get his workout in♪

Yes, I know.

I must exercise once in a while!

That’s the spirit,Sarudono♪

Incidentally, there are two kawadoko (riverbeds) in Minoh where you can dine while enjoying the view of the river.
